Melissa:
Who knew writing my name on a clipboard at a Trunk-or-Treat event would turn into this! By “this”, I mean the discovery of an amazing community!! I had been doing Yoga at home and took a chance, thanks to my husband’s encouragement and the overall kindness I was met with when setting up my first session. I was hooked from day 1 and since then, I look forward to every session (even when my muscles tell me otherwise). I enjoy that each session is unique and challenges me in ways I never thought possible. I look forward to Courtney’s bubbly energy and BBO every Monday. Her morning greeting of “What’s Up Melissa?!” never gets old. Who doesn’t appreciate a good dose of sarcasm and wit when werkin’ it with Mallory? I thought Heather was all bundles of sweet, thanks to REVIVE sessions, until she filled in for Beth for a Saturday REP session. Holy sweat!! My first experience with Kellyn was the family session, which we loved! Since then, I’ve come to learn that Kellyn means business and really puts your body to werk. Sessions with Beth are fun, sweaty, and finish with a fabulous message that carries me throughout my day/week. Saturday morning REP classes are never dull with Beth either. Can we talk about a Pyramid werkout? Ha! Whenever I can snag a session with Carrie, I do. I know my body will be werked hard, I’ll be sweaty, and probably swear under my breath a lot, but it’s Carrie’s positive demeanor that I look forward to most. Always smiling, encouraging, engaging – I think of her as the heart of this SPENGA crew. For me, it’s the SPENGA crew that keeps bringing me back to werk. The instructors foster a positive atmosphere that bleeds into my werkout, as well as the rest of my day/week. Then, there is this sense of camaraderie here that I have not found elsewhere, and I enjoy being a part of it. The friendly banter that takes place here and there, the laughter, I leave my sessions feeling lighter, happier – even if my body is aching. Thank-you SPENGA crew!!

The hardest part for me was just walking in the door the first time. I have had zero regrets since then. Everyone has been nothing but kind, helpful & motivating. What started as a free session has grown into an unlimited membership and trying to squeeze in as many classes as possible. I feel better now than I have in a long time. The instructors push to dig a little deeper on the bike and go for that extra weight in strength, all while throwing in some humor here and there.
The added bonus is taking this journey with my wife. She suggested giving it a try shortly after she started. Now we push each other to stay on track. When I’m ready to skip a day, she’s always there to talk me into going. That’s the key. Just keep showing up. And we congratulate each other, because taking care of our bodies is an accomplishment worth recognizing.
Thank you again for all that you do!
