January Member of the Month: The Lavailles, Katie and Sydney
What drew you to SPENGA?
Back in the fall of 2019 I saw a Facebook ad about SPENGA coming to Bloomingdale. My sister had taken a class and said it was a great workout. What I needed was someone to tell me what to do and for how long. I signed up before the studio had even opened and went in knowing nothing about SPENGA. It has been a year since I started my first class. I’ve clocked in over 1000 miles on the bike, lifting heavier weights and see a change in my body.
For Sydney, basketball had just ended and I talked her into trying a class. Just to see if she liked it. A way of staying in shape during the off season. I have seen a huge change in her strength, stamina and confidence. The results have been wonderful.
Can you describe a specific moment at SPENGA that stays with you?
It was in the first class back after the studio was closed due to Covid. It was exciting, emotional, joyous and everyone was appreciative to be back. Who can say that about the gym they go to!
What most surprised you about SPENGA?
Both of us were just talking in the car the other day about how much we enjoy coming into the studio. We never dread it. We have never been bored. We are always challenged while being motivated through the entire hour. All the members have been super supportive and amazing. It is truly a close knit community. Also, we can’t believe how much we like yoga. ????
How has SPENGA impacted your life outside the studio?
Sydney and I attend classes 6 days a week. It is how we start our day. We hear at the beginning of class to “set our intentions”. We are more motivated to be healthy and choose healthier options throughout the day.
Also, as a parent I enjoy having Sydney as a workout buddy. I get to ask her questions about her plans for the day. We stop for coffee a couple mornings a week and get to hang out one on one.
SPENGA is an important part of our daily routine.
