Setting Goals

Setting goals can be very overwhelming but we can help! Let's get started and set your goals for 2021.

Start thinking about your BIG goal. What do you want to achieve in the coming year? Think about this today, and write it down.

Now, let’s make your goal "SMART!”

  • S - Your goal should be SPECIFIC. Be clear in what you want to achieve and narrow it down to something specific.

  • M - Your goal should be MEASURABLE. Your goal should be written in a way that you can clearly measure your progress.

  • A - Your goal needs to be ACHIEVABLE.  Your goals should be reasonably achievable in the timeframe you are giving yourself to achieve it.

  • R - Your goal should be RELEVANT. Your goal should fit in with your values and larger, long-term goals. You should be able to answer the question, "Why is this important to you?"

  • T - Your goal should be TIMEBOUND. Set a timeframe for when you want to achieve your goal.

Start cleaning up your goal and re-writing it as a SMART goal.

Now that you've got your SMART goal written, let's find your WHY.

It's so important in your health + fitness journey to have a why. Why is this goal important to you? Your why will be the reason you keep going and it will drive you to achieve your goal.

Take some time today to think about your why. Write it down and each morning, take a minute to read it.

Sometimes BIG goals can be a little overwhelming. Breaking your larger goal into smaller goals will make it more attainable. Come up with smaller milestones, maybe breaking your goal into quarters, that help you stay focused and make your larger goal seem a little less overwhelming.

Take some time to break your goal down into 2-4 smaller goals.

Your goal is set and you're ready to go! So let's set a start date!

Many people like to start fresh at the beginning of the week or month. This time of year January 1st seems like a great start date but any day will work. Just pick a date that speaks to you, mark it on your calendar, tell your friends and family if you want to and stick to it.

Your final goal setting tip is to celebrate!

Celebrate those wins! Did you make it to your workout? Celebrate! Did you hit a milestone? Celebrate!

It doesn't matter how big or small your win may seem, a win is a win and should be celebrated! Pat yourself on the back, tell a friend, brag on social media, take some time for self-care...it doesn't matter how you celebrate, just celebrate!

You've got this!
