How much do you pay a month for fitness memberships? Maybe you’re a member at one studio, maybe at multiple studios. Maybe you just can’t see yourself spending that much money a month to work out. What do you get out of your membership that makes it worth the money or not worth the money in your eyes?
On the surface when you pay for a fitness membership, you’re paying for access to a facility or classes. You’re paying for a workout, right? But there are so many other factors that go into the value of your membership.
- You’re getting your body moving – Whether you’re going all out during every workout or you’re just there because you paid for this membership and you’re determined to use it, you’re still there and moving your body and you’ll still see the benefits.
- A workout is good for you both physically and mentally – I think it’s pretty obvious that working out will have physical benefits for you, but anyone who works out will likely tell you that they feel better mentally. A workout is a great way to clear your mind, relieve stress and put the rest of the world on hold for an hour or however long and just focus on you.
- You’re getting a community – working out at home is great but paying for a membership and working out at a fitness studio brings you a whole community of friends, cheerleaders, people to connect with and encouragement to push a little harder and crush those goals.
- Accountability is key – when you’re alone, you’re more likely to not workout as hard, maybe skip that rep, maybe skip the workout all together. But when you know you have someone expecting you, you’re more likely to follow through. When you have an instructor encouraging you and challenging you, you’re more likely to push a little harder.
- Professional and personal Instruction – instructors are not just there to bring you a fun and challenging workout and a killer playlist. They are there to help you workout safely, using correct form to prevent injury and optimize your workout. Workout videos at home are a great supplement to your workout because of their convenience when you’re pressed for time, but the instructor in the video can’t see you and help you correct your form during the workout.
When you pay for a fitness membership, you’re paying for more than a workout. You’re paying for your health, for your well-being, for a community, for accountability, and for your safety.
