Member Spotlight: Laura + Samantha 

 

1. What drew you to SPENGA?

Laura: Many things drew me to SPENGA. I've been running for over 20 years. The days I ran I didn't have time for lifting and vice versa. The lack of stretching caused injury at times. Balancing cardio and lifting on a daily basis was difficult. I hopped from one exercise facility to another trying to find the right one. It was so frustrating to wait around to use certain machines or get a space into one of the classes. I love working out but I have never been very good at coming up with my own workouts. At gyms it was difficult to obtain advice or support, I was on my own!  I tried SPENGA in December of 2019 and got the BEST full body workout ever!! The staff is amazing, from the minute I walk in the studio sets the tone for a great workout. The instructors explain everything in detail. It makes me feel welcome and confident. There were days I struggled to fit in a workout. At SPENGA every session is different and it keeps me motivated. I found my sweet spot! 

 

Samantha: I have always participated in sports. I was worried about keeping active now that I graduated from high school and won’t be doing track. We all know that the best way to teach good habits is to model them. My mom puts in long days and still makes time to take care of her health. She is amazing! Seeing my mom go to SPENGA every day and sometimes attending a double session was what drew me to SPENGA. I must admit, the workouts are not what I thought they would be. I get a tremendous workout every session. Forget the gym, SPENGA is the best workout mothers and daughters can do together. 

 

 

2. Can you describe a specific moment at SPENGA that stays with you?

Laura: When working out instructors pay careful attention to offer tips and modifications for every fitness level. As I continued to heal from a lower back injury I thought I would not be able to do all of the exercises in strength. During my first week back, I was able to complete 20 minutes of strength. The expertise of all the instructors made this possible. After the explanation/modeling of the exercises the instructor would give me options and modifications. This allowed the injured area to rest as I continued to work towards my fitness goals. I felt confident and continued to put in the BEST WERKOUTS. 

 

Samantha: One day we were doing strength, it involved jumping while holding a weight. I was about to stop but saw the instructor heading my way and everyone was giving it their all to get through the exercise. I said to myself, “Samantha you cannot stop.” The workouts are tough. The atmosphere created by the instructors and by the crew working out motivates me to be the best version of myself. I love how each session ends, the instructor reminds us to thank ourselves for making the time out of our busy day to take care of ourselves. This stays with me and motivates me to show up the next day.  

 

 

3. What surprised you about SPENGA?

Laura & Samantha: The instructors are amazing motivators. From the playlists to their voice on the microphone. The hardest part can be walking in the studio after a long day or when you need a little motivation. Once we set foot in the studio the instructors get us through the rest. The energy they bring to every session is out of this world. In addition, cleanliness is a priority like no other workout place. 

 

 

4. How has SPENGA impacted your life outside of the studio?

Laura & Samantha: SPENGA has made us more conscientious on creating a healthier lifestyle.  After exercising we feel more in control and able to process the day with a clear head. Energy flows and we are more productive in our everyday life.
