1. What drew you to SPENGA?
I originally joined SPENGA in 2019 for one reason and one reason only: my wedding. I had tried every gym membership, diet, home workout app, you name it… nothing stuck. I absolutely hated working out. I joined SPENGA hoping it would hold me accountable and help me lose a few lbs before the big day, but it quickly became SO much more than that. I stopped caring about the number on a scale and signed up for classes because I actually enjoyed it. I loved the challenge and variety each class brought and I could feel a difference physically and mentally. It quickly became part of my daily routine and has been ever since!
2. Can you describe a specific moment at SPENGA that stays with you?
SPENGA has become such an important part of my life, it’s hard to choose one! One of my proudest moments was last year’s Century Challenge. When the challenge was announced, I immediately counted myself out. I was so impressed by all those around me finishing the challenge, but 100 miles seemed IMPOSSIBLE for me. Then, I found out that I was only about 15 miles away and that I would be able to finish before the challenge was over. That was when I realized I needed to stop selling myself short and give myself some credit for how hard I was working. That moment has stuck with me and has taught me to set high goals for myself both in and out of the studio.
3. What surprised you about SPENGA?
The most surprising part about SPENGA is the community. When I joined, I expected to go in, sweat a little, and leave. Never did I think a gym membership would bring me a great group of friends as well. #SPENGAFam is the real deal. There is a whole crew of people supporting you and cheering you on (and that doesn't just mean with sweet spot updates and century challenges, that means celebrating every milestone with you from weddings and babies to birthdays and job promotions!) Everyone in the studio wants you to be successful. The positive energy from the staff, instructors, and members is contagious and inspires me every day.
4. How has SPENGA impacted your life outside of the studio?
SPENGA has changed my entire mindset on fitness and physical/mental health. It has taught me that exercise is not a punishment, it is something I GET to do. I have gone from dreading the gym to hopping out of bed for the 5 am class Monday morning ready to start my day in the best possible way. SPENGA has been the best stress relief and is the perfect place to unplug from the world for a bit and focus on myself. I know I am a stronger, more motivated, happier person because of SPENGA!
