1. I was drawn to SPENGA about a year before I actually joined. A good friend of mine who lives in the Downers Grove area had been posting on Facebook positive comments about going to SPENGA including how it had changed her life both physical and mentally. Driving to the grocery store one day, I noticed a SPENGA studio just two minutes from my house. BOOM, BANG, I signed up the next day. That was a year ago and I am still going. I love to go to the studio (who loves to exercise?).
2. A SPENGA moment that really stays with me is the day I shared with Carrie and Beth that I was having knee trouble and thought I would have to stop exercising. My knee troubles kept me from doing any lower body strength work. Carrie and Beth immediately shared with me ideas for biking differently and alternative lower body exercises. The “survivor” exercises have not only allowed me to remain doing the workout I love to, but also have helped my knees to heal.
3. What surprised me the most about SPENGA Bloomingdale was unlike other health clubs and fitness classes, the staff and the other members were friendly, even welcoming. Not a class has gone by where I have felt judged. That is pretty amazing. Additionally, the constant reminder that SPENGA is about “You vs. You” is a unique and inspiring mantra.
4. SPENGA Bloomingdale has impacted my life outside the studio in many ways, but the impact I think has been the one I have needed the most during these tumultuous times is the mental strength I have gained from spinning, strengthening with weights, and stretching during yoga. Thank you, SPENGA
