SPENGA CREW Spotlight: Kari M.
I have been working full time in the fitness industry for over seven years as an ISSA certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and studio manager. In early 2022 I felt myself getting burned out in the gym. After spending hours each day with clients I needed a place I could go to call my own and have someone kick my butt! I started searching studios in my area to find a new and exciting workout to reinvigorate my passion for fitness, and in doing so learned a Spenga had opened in Bloomingdale. I was already familiar with the product and instantly found it was just what I needed to incorporate into my own routine. The energy of a group, a wonderful community of people, and a skilled group of instructors who shared my love for fitness.
Needless to say, I joined (the first time I’ve PAID for a gym membership in longer than I can remember, and it was worth every penny). After about eight months I was approached by Beth and Carrie and asked if I would like to audition to become an instructor. I knew instantly in my heart that it was something I was meant to do, not only to grow my skill set as a professional, but to become a bigger part of the community that had already enriched my life so much.
Just as Spenga encouraged and challenged me as a member it has done the same for me as an instructor. Though my specialty as a PT is primarily strength training and weight loss, I have enjoyed expanding my horizons to include spin and yoga. Of all the studios I have worked for, and diverse workouts I have led, I can honestly say that Spenga is the most well-rounded, enjoyable workout I have encountered. I am so glad to be part of the incredible community at Spenga Bloomingdale and always look forward to being in the studio, whether on the mic or sweating with the crew!
